The area offers a wide selection of restaurants, shopping, golfing and activities for the whole family to enjoy. In addition to the picturesque shopping in the village of Duck, there are numerous other shopping areas and point of interest along Route 12. Don’t miss the Wright Brothers First Flight Museum, Wild Horse Preserve, and the highest sand dunes on the east coast (great for hang gliding).

- Hatteras to Ocracoke: Leaves Hatteras every half hour:
Crossing time – 40 minutes: capacity 30 cars: - Fare is Free
- Cedar Island to Ocracoke: To avoid possible delays boarding, reservations are recommended:
Crossing time – 2 ½ hours; capacity – 50 cars; ( approx. $10 per car )
- Currituck to Knotts Island: Crossing time – 45 minutes; capacity – 18 cars; Fare is Free
